With over a decade of experience in nursing, she has developed a unique skill set that combines clinical expertise with legal insight. Her unwavering commitment to patient advocacy drives her to ensure that every individual receives the highest standard of care while navigating the complexities of healthcare systems.

Paula’s extensive career includes leadership roles in emergency medicine, critical care, and hospice care. She has thrived in high-pressure environments, demonstrating exceptional critical thinking, crisis intervention skills, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams effectively. Her work in emergency management has further strengthened her expertise, making her an invaluable resource in both clinical and legal contexts. Paula is deeply committed to ensuring that patients’ voices are heard, their rights are protected, and their needs are prioritized. As a Legal Nurse Consultant, Paula leverages her diverse expertise to assist legal professionals in analyzing medical cases and fostering clear communication between healthcare providers and legal entities. Her extensive background in case management and utilization review provides her with a comprehensive understanding of healthcare policies, patient rights, and the intricacies of the medical field. Through her dedicated advocacy efforts, Paula strives to bridge the gap between medicine and law, ensuring that patients' voices are not only heard but also respected and valued.

Biography

Paula, a Georgia native, has lived in multiple states throughout her life and traveled extensively, ultimately settling in New Mexico. She is happily married, a proud mother of three adult children, and a doting grandmother to five grandchildren. Paula comes from a family deeply rooted in service, with many relatives serving as military personnel, teachers, nurses, paramedics, police officers, and other dedicated public servants.

From an early age, Paula was inspired to help others, leading her to begin her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant at just 17 years old. Over the years, she has provided professional and personal care to family members facing diverse challenges, including chronic pain, Autism, ADHD, and Epilepsy. On a personal level, Paula navigates her own diagnoses of Chronic Migraines, Chronic Daily Headaches, ADHD, Asthma, and PTSD stemming from past trauma. These experiences have given her unique insights and the ability to connect with her clients on a deeply empathetic level.

A lifelong learner, Paula is passionate about education and continually expands her expertise in advocacy, holistic care, patient-centered approaches, healthcare law, and leadership. Her dedication to ensuring positive patient outcomes drives her to share her knowledge with others and remain at the forefront of her field.

Outside of her professional pursuits, Paula finds joy in traveling and spending quality time with her beloved canine companions. Her enthusiasm for life, learning, and helping others defines both her career and her personal journey. Her favorite travel buddies, Buster and Mila are pictured here, on a recent visit to Georgia... They are letting Grandpa and Grandma know they have arrived!
