Emergency Management

An emergency management nurse has education and experience in caring for clients before, during, and after emergencies. Emergencies may be client-related or on a larger scale and may affect individuals, families, or communities. Examples may include, but not be limited to:​​​​​​

  • Residential Fires

  • Medical Emergency

  • Tornados

  • Hurricanes

  • Earthquakes

  • Environmental emergencies

  • Pandemics or local disease outbreaks

  • Technical or biological hazards

  • Landslides

  • Ice storms

  • Flooding

Emergency Management
Assistance Includes

  • Organizing information

  • Appropriate storage of original documents and distribution of copies

  • In-home assessment and recommendations

  • Written risk assessment

  • Evacuation plans with identified local resources at the evacuation site

  • Education: Educate clients on emergency preparation, planning, management, and recovery.

  • Arrange for training related to CPR, First Aid, Survival Medicine, and other needed training as desired by the client.

  • Identify local, state, and federal disaster resources specific to the client's geographic location and medical needs.

  • Evacuation plans, including identification of resources for medical needs at the evacuation site.

  • Help clients understand travel medical insurance and identify resources that may be needed while traveling domestically and abroad.

  • Client education related to all aspects of emergency care, triage, and emergency management

Clients often include individuals, small businesses, hospitals, corporations, and other entities.
